Dawhat Al-Jazeera School follows the American Common Core Curriculum (CCSS) adopted in the state of California that covers ELA, Reading, and Mathematics. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) adopted in the state of California will also be delivered.
Our School is committed to preparing global citizens equipped with the life skills required to meet the constantly changing challenges and needs of the world around them. In order to ensure this, we provide a high quality, challenging curriculum to our students. Our high school elective courses and graduation policies ensure that all students leave as highly literate and skilled graduates.
In addition to this we have a balance of internal and external assessments. DJS is committed in achieving its vision of competitive generation and as such participates in external assessment like NWEA MAP (Northwest Evaluation Association Measures of Academic Progress) to ensure that students have attained the required grade leveled skills and learning objectives.
Our school curriculum will be broad enough to provide students the opportunity study a wide range of subjects including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Arabic Language, Science, Social Studies, Islamic Studies, Cultural Studies, PE, ICT, Art, and Music. We adopt the MOE standards for Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies.
As an American curriculum based school, we start with entry to Kindergarten at age 4. Our students study through to Grade 12, where they are awarded the American High School Diploma at age 17. The American Diploma is accepted for entrance by all KSA universities and is recognized by other universities around the world.
At Dawhat Al-Jazeera School, We believe that our youngest learners are curious about the world, and learn well through play. The children are taught spoken English, Numerals and Science. The foundation of language development and peer interaction is laid here.
Our Teachers at Elementary school provides a caring and stimulating atmosphere, making the entire learning process more meaningful. The Elementary school at DJS starts from Grades 1 to 5.The curriculum emphasizes on the developmental skills and instills Moral values through Islamic Studies, Arabic and Social Studies. The Program also includes Core Subjects (English, Math and Science). Elementary classrooms are supported by rich leveled reading libraries.
The Intermediate School at DJS commences from grades 6 – 8. The transitional years of middle school see a shift to more student-driven inquiry and action. Students have specialist teachers in all subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, Art, French and Physical Education.
The High School at DJS comprises grades 9 – 12. At this stage, students are ready to become the innovators of the future. Students continue with the core subjects till G12. At DJS, highlight of the High school Program lies in the elective subjects which begins at grade 10: Business, Life Skills, Health Science, History, Psychology, Research Method, Drama and Graduation Project. All high school students must complete a community service requirement before graduating.
